January 15, 2010 (Day 2)

Block F (2-2) English 8

We looked at how to create an interesting villain/antagonist today.

FOR NEXT CLASS: Choose your 5 favourite villains. Explain their motivation, their background (as described in our class), and what they have done which is socially inappropriate in a short paragraph. Now, create your own, completely original villain with a rich background, clear motivation and nasty deeds.

Block E (2-1) English 8

Block H (2-4) English 11

We finished up the notes on fallacies today. You were given a list of Editorial Survey questions.

FOR NEXT CLASS: For each of the topics on your Editorial Survey sheet, establish which of the three appeals you think would be most effective to use in arguing (1) for and (2) against it.
This means that there should be 52 answers on the page.

Remember: you don't need to say a word to use appeals effectively.
