November 9, 2009 (Day 1)

MARKS CUTOFF for Miss Keng's classes: Nov 27

Block A (1-1) English 9

You took notes on how to write an essay. We looked at an example essay and identified the thesis statement and the supporting points in the introductory paragraph.

FOR NEXT CLASS: Using the example essay and organizer you were given, identify the main supporting ideas and details in the body paragraphs and the conclusion.

Block B (1-2) English 9

You took notes on how to write an essay. We looked at an example essay and identified the thesis statement and the supporting points in the introductory paragraph as well as the supporting topic sentences in the first two body paragraphs.

FOR NEXT CLASS: Finish deconstructing the example essay using the organizer you were given. (Final body paragraph and conclusion)

Block C (1-3) English 11

We ran through a timeline for the remainder of the classes before marks cut-off. We agreed on an in-class essay as the final assessment.

FOR NEXT CLASS: Literature Circle #3

Block D (1-4) Socials 10

Today's lesson was a quick detour into 20th Century History. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, you did a quick-and-dirty research jigsaw and wrote a quiz at the end of the class.

FOR NEXT CLASS: Bring your textbooks.

Not the night of November 9, 1989 but the more dramatic tear-down months later.
